: Air India explores up to 300 new jets amid fleet modernization push

Air India is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Airbus and Boeing to acquire up to 300 new aircraft as part of a major modernization drive. The talks include 80–100 wide-body jets in addition to previously discussed narrow-body additions. This expansion is intended to enhance international connectivity, replace aging fleets, and support increased passenger demand. The plan reflects Tata Group’s effort to reposition Air India as a global airline competitor.Details such as exact order numbers, mix of aircraft types, and financing are still under discussion. The fleet renewal effort gains urgency following a Boeing 787 crash in Ahmedabad earlier this year.If finalized, the order could be among the largest recent transformations for an Indian carrier.A modern, diverse fleet would strengthen route flexibility and operational reliability.
