T.T.V. Dhinakaran, the General Secretary of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), released the party's manifesto for the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections today. The document contains 120 key promises aimed at social justice and infrastructure development. Major highlights include the demand for Bharat Ratna for late leaders Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar and J. Jayalalithaa. Dhinakaran also proposed the establishment of a new AIIMS in North Tamil Nadu and an IIT in the South to balance regional educational growth. The AMMK, contesting as part of the AIADMK-led NDA, has announced candidates for 11 constituencies including Mannargudi and Saidapet. The manifesto also focuses on agrarian relief, promising better support for farmers and the restoration of monthly electricity billing. Despite some internal friction, such as former MLA N. Parthiban quitting the party, Dhinakaran remains optimistic that the "Amma legacy" will resonate with voters who are disillusioned with the current administration.
