Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. Constructed at a cost of approximately ₹11,282 crore, this airport is poised to become one of India's largest aviation hubs, significantly easing the load on Delhi's IGI Airport. During the inauguration, the PM highlighted the 'UDAN' scheme's success and reiterated the government's plan to build 100 new airports across the country to boost connectivity.Security was tight for the event, with over 7,000 police personnel and 300 CCTV cameras monitoring the site. The airport is expected to transform the Western UP region into an industrial powerhouse, attracting global investments. Aviation experts suggest that the NIA will not only serve as a transit point but also as a major cargo hub, strengthening India's supply chain infrastructure. The PM noted that this "Jewar model" of development reflects the vision of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India).
