India Maintains Fuel Buffer Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Tensions

 


As the conflict between Israel and Iran enters a critical phase, the Indian government has assured the public of its preparedness. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated in Parliament that there are no plans for a national lockdown and that the economy remains resilient. India currently holds 60 days of oil stocks and a one-month supply of LPG to mitigate any supply chain disruptions caused by tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar discussed these concerns at a G-7 meeting, emphasizing the impact of food and fuel shortages on the Global South. Meanwhile, Indian airlines including Air India and IndiGo have adjusted their flight schedules to West Asia, operating limited flights to ensure the safety of Indian nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs is in constant touch with Indian embassies in the region to monitor the safety of the diaspora as missile strikes escalate between Tel Aviv and Tehran.
