Heavy Rain to Continue in Chennai: IMD Issues Important Weather Update for October 19

Chennai and several parts of Tamil Nadu are expected to receive continued rainfall over the next few days as the northeast monsoon intensifies across the region. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has issued a fresh weather bulletin predicting light to moderate showers with isolated thunderstorms and lightning in multiple districts, including Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Vellore.

According to IMD, October 19 will see intermittent rain in most parts of the city. The sky will remain mostly cloudy, with temperatures around 30°C during the day and dropping to around 25°C at night. Winds are likely to blow from the northeast direction at moderate speeds.

Weather experts have warned residents to remain cautious, as waterlogging and traffic congestion could occur in low-lying areas. The civic authorities have already begun preventive measures to drain rainwater and keep the city prepared for continuous spells of rain.

Meanwhile, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as strong winds are expected to prevail along the coastal regions. The public has been requested to follow official IMD and local government updates regularly to stay informed about weather fluctuations.

The meteorological department has also stated that the intensity of rainfall may gradually reduce after October 20, but occasional drizzle and thunderstorms are likely to continue till the end of the week.
