Google to invest $15 billion in India for largest-ever AI hub

Global tech leader Google has announced a record $15 billion investment to establish its largest Artificial Intelligence (AI) data hub in Visakhapatnam, India. The facility, scheduled between 2026–2030, will include a 1 GW energy-efficient data centre and a subsea fibre-optic network connecting Asia and Europe.
The project aims to make India a key AI infrastructure hub, generating thousands of jobs in data science, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. Experts say it will boost India’s AI capabilities but also raise data-sovereignty and privacy concerns.
With this initiative, Google strengthens its long-term commitment to India’s digital economy and innovation growth.
