Ahead of the grand Diwali celebrations, over 26,000 police officers and fire-rescue personnel have been deployed across Chennai and nearby districts. Temporary watch-towers, drone surveillance and mobile X-ray baggage scanners have been installed at busy markets such as T. Nagar and Purasawalkam. The Chennai City Police Commissioner said that patrolling will continue round the clock to ensure a peaceful and safe celebration.
